This Mk2 3.4 auto first left Jaguar's Coventry factory in 1966 since when virtually all service history has been fully charted and the various work carried out can be perused in the car's history file which may be inspected at the documents office at Buxton.
The second owner undertook extensive alterations and upgrades following his 1993 purchase. Work included...engine refurbished with cylinder head modified to run on lead-free fuel, carburetors and fuel pump rebuild, Type 12 Borg Warner automatic transmission with pre-engaged starter, conversion from dynamo to alternator and negative earth electrics, halogen-bulbed headlights and high intensity rear light, radio with roof-mounted aerial and four speakers, Kenlow adjustable electric cooling fan and new radiator, completely overhauled brake system including reconditioned servo, reservoir and larger disc brakes by Coopercraft, rebushed suspension, renewal of springs all round and rear shock absorbers, power-assisted rack and pinion steering, new wire wheels, fresh door and window seals, inertia-reel belts, new carpets, waxoil treatment, anti-stone chip undercoated front panel and tracker.
The vendor, the third owner, who has owned GRL 747D since acquiring it from a Jaguar Enthusiasts Club member in 1998, believes that the 95,100 miles displayed when entered for the sale to be the genuine total mileage from new. Saloon bodywork and blue paintwork are said to be very good, original interior in grey good and 3.4-litre 6-cylinder engine and 3-speed automatic transmission in good order.
