Triumph built its first car in 1923 but was well known for motorbikes and bicycles well before that. Although the firm initially made small cars they moved firmly into the middleclass field in the early 1930's with a range of attractive if expensive machines, which included the Gloria and the Dolomite.
We are pleased to offer you today a completely unrestored barn discovery. It dates from 1937 and is a rare Gloria Vitesse saloon with the 14hp four-cylinder engine and is one of only six recorded on the Triumph register. The car seems complete and original and we believe that the engine turns and the car rolls on its own wheels.
The file of history includes a brown logbook dating from 1956 and an instruction and maintenance book, several photographs and various specifications. It is indeed an interesting and rare find and it is ripe for restoration and the work should be particularly rewarding for anyone involved.
Please note: We have since found out that this model is a Vitesse and not a Gloria and is actually fitted with the 1760cc engine and not the 1232cc as stated in the catalogue.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
