Lot details Registration No: UN-REG Chassis No: GGR46 Mot Expiry: None
Whilst borrowing many of the design features of the exceptionally successful 20/25 predecessor, the new small Rolls-Royce, the 1938 Olympia Show exhibited 25/30hp model, featured an enlarged 4257c engine with simplified carburation and fuel supplied by twin SU pumps rather than the previous Autovac system of the 20/25.
On the block now is a 1939 25/30, one of the last made prewar, which has retained the original Barker-crafted GE 11481 saloon coachwork fitted to the GGR 46 chassis when supplied to first owner Leopold Harvey of Spalding, Lincs, 15 June 1939. After the war, the car was sold to Londoner Michael Krug, who kept it until the 1970s when it was purchased by third owner, a Mr Oswald, a Belgian Attorney, who preserved the car, largely unaltered, for the next 30 years. In the late 1980s, the original S25P engine was rebuilt around a new cylinder block.
First painted black with a white stripe, the current green paintwork is reckoned to have been carried out some thirty years ago when the car was last refurbished. In recent years whilst in Belgian ownership, it has been a regular participant in collector car rallies in Belgium and, it is claimed, has always been stored in dry conditions. This lot represents a rare opportunity to own a prewar Rolls that is still in largely original condition and has the added bonus of having been in long-term ownership.
PLEASE NOTE: There is no Spirit of Ecstasy mascot with this vehicle.
