Lot details Registration No: 569 UXP Chassis No: 153076 Mot Expiry: May 2006
One of the friendliest cars ever conceived and arguably forefather of mass motoring 'giants' such as the Volkswagen Beetle, Citroen 2CV and BMC Mini, the Austin 7 was launched in 1922. An extremely versatile design, its simple but well executed A-frame, leaf sprung chassis played host to a bewildering range of derivatives from Brooklands single seaters to two-speed tractors (all powered by the ubiquitous, four-cylinder, sidevalve 747cc engine). Throughout a lifetime of continual revision and development, the 7 never lost its charm.
Finished in red over black with red upholstery, the vendor reports that this particular two-door saloon example has "been stood in a private collection since 1983". Believed to have covered just 168 miles since an earlier rebuild, it is said to "drive well". Offered for sale with MOT certificate valid until May 8th 2006, its new V5C registration document is currently "due back from the DVLA".
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
