Lot details Registration No: XOP 1 Chassis No: B108GC Mot Expiry: Sept 2006
Introduced in 1955, the Bentley S-Type and its sister car the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud were quantifiable improvements over their predecessors. Their new boxed section chassis design featured coil and wishbone independent front suspension, improved drum brakes and an enlarged 4.9 litre version of the straight six oise engine. Predominantly fitted with four-speed automatic transmission these imperious saloons were capable of over 100mph.
Finished in Shell over Tudor Grey with blue leather upholstery, this particular example is variously described by the vendor as being in "fair / good" condition. According to its accompanying build sheet, chassis B108GC was supplied new with the registration number 'XOP 1' to H. R. R. Charles Esq of Moseley, Birmingham via local dealer P.J. Evans Ltd on 14th May 1959. Factory-fitted with "RR electric windows" and power steering, this very late S1 has been in the current ownership since 2000. Said to have benefited from a "new transmission installed within the last two years by specialist motor engineer Gary Bretherton", it is apparently registered with the Bentley Drivers Club. Believed but not warranted to have covered 89,600 miles from new, it is offered for sale with workshop manual, handbook, spare wireless and MOT certificate valid until September 8th 2006.
PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle has an MOT certificate until September 2006.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
