Lot details Registration No: F913ZOA Chassis No: SAXXL251020406596 Mot Expiry: None
According to information supplied by the vendor, this sprint / hillclimb car was built-up using a low mileage, rust free 1988 Mini 1000 as a donor. Stripped to a bare shell the diminutive saloon then had a Safety Devices FIA rollcage installed (complete with door bars) as well as a Corbeau competition seat and four-point harness. The work of Peter May Engineering its enlarged / balanced 1330cc A-series engine boasts an impressive specification including: a steel flywheel, steel centre main strap, 286 camshaft, Vernier cam gear, Maniflow inlet manifold, Weber 45 DCOE carburettor, stainless steel centre-exit large bore exhaust with LCB manifold, race distributor, electronic ignition, thick cored 'high-flo' radiator, Kenlowe fan, Omega pistons and unleaded competition cylinder head (housing 37.7mm inlet and 29mm exhaust valves). The relevant invoice for preparing the souped-up Mini's engine and refurbishing its four-speed manual gearbox apparently came to £4,274.86 but 'F913 XOA' is said to have recorded a power output of 124bhp @ 6565rpm during a rolling road test / tuning session. To cope with its increased performance potential, the blue and yellow hued 'pocket rocket' was equipped with an adjustable rear track, negative camber arms, nylon bushes and all 'Gas-a-Just' shock absorbers all round. While, stopping power was improved via uprated 8-inch drilled and slotted front discs complete with new callipers, Kevlar pads and stainless steel braided hoses. Reportedly "only used for two hillclimbs by its commissioning owner who then became ill and sadly died", 'F913 XOA' has not been driven in anger since. A potentially inexpensive entry to the world of motorsport, this seemingly well-sorted Mini is described by the vendor as being in "very good" condition with regard to its engine, gearbox, pared-back electrical equipment, stripped-out interior, bodywork and paintwork. Offered for sale at a fraction of the conversion cost and accompanied by a MSA logbook and history file, it promises a great 'grin per pound' return.
