Lot details Registration No: D61 WPA Chassis No: ZFFY024C000065185 Mot Expiry: 08.05.09
Launched at the 1985 Geneva Motor Show, the Ferrari 412i was recognisable via its colour-coded bumpers, matt black chin spoiler, raised boot-line and 'flat' five-spoke alloy wheels. Uprated with new electrically-operated front seats, the grand tourer's revamped interior also sported re-profiled headrests and an improved air-conditioning system. Utilising the same tubular steel chassis design as its 365 / 400 / 400i predecessors (but with various detail improvements), the newcomer boasted all-round independent suspension (self-levelling at the rear), power-assisted rack and pinion steering and Bosch ABS disc brakes. Powered by an enlarged 4942cc 'quad-cam' V12 engine that developed 340bhp @ 6,000rpm, it could be had with either five-speed manual or automatic transmission. Reputedly capable of 155mph and 0-60mph in 6.4 seconds, a mere 576 are thought to have left the Maranello factory during the model's four-year production run.
Finished in silver with blue upholstery, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in "A1" condition with regard to its engine, automatic transmission, electrical equipment, interior trim, chassis, bodywork and paintwork. Reportedly supplied new to a chairman of Nike and chauffeur driven, 'D61 WPA' is said to have covered just 25,000 miles by the time it entered the current ownership in February 2004. Now showing some 34,500 miles to its odometer, this much underrated Ferrari is offered for sale with MOT certificate valid until May 2009.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
