Lot details Registration No: 557 UXB Frame No: S8 636 Engine No: S8 712 cc: 500 MOT Expiry Date: May 2007
The S8 sought to broaden the appeal of the inline, over head cam twin cylinder 500 S7 by addressing some of the deficiencies of the S7. The new model was lighter thanks to the use of standard BSA group forks, brakes, slimmer wheels and mudguards and an alloy silencer. Performance improved as a result of the changes and the S8 consistently outsold the S7 following its introduction in 1949.
This one has had only one previous owner from 1949 to 2003 and is thought to only have been used until 1956 when it was taken of the road and stored. It received some attention in 1983 before another period of inactivity until 2003. The original paintwork and brightwork are described as fair with the machine being described as mechanically good. It is offered with a Mot and road fund licence valid until May 2007.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
