Lot details Registration No: FND130F Chassis No: DB63426R Mot Expiry: T.B.A.
The first model to be engineered after the factory moved from Feltham to Newport Pagnell, the DB6 was launched at the 1965 Motor Show. Visually indebted to its DB5 predecessor, it boasted superior aerodynamics (courtesy of an effective Kamm tail) and a four inch longer wheelbase. In combination with a (marginally) raised roof line and revised rear suspension pick-up points this helped make the new arrival a credible four seater. Built using well-practised Touring Supperleggera techniques that saw hand-finished aluminium body panels grafted over a steel superstructure, its kerb weight was listed as just 1,466kg. Equipped with all round coil-sprung suspension, disc brakes and rack and pinion steering, it proved a suitably sporting drive. Powered by the fabulous Tadek Marek designed 3,995cc dohc straight-six engine that was quoted as developing 282bhp and 280lbft in standard tune, the DB6 could be had with either five-speed manual or automatic transmission. Even when fitted with the latter no-cost option, it was reputed to be capable of 140mph.
Finished in olive green metallic with tan leather upholstery, this particular automatic example is described by the vendor as being in good overall condition. Owned by him since 1972, it is believed but not warranted to have covered 90,900 miles from new. Apparently "always garaged", recent work has reportedly included "new wire wheels, stainless steel exhaust system, engine work (timing chains renewed) and a bare metal repaint". Benefiting from power assisted steering, a full-length sunroof, 'select-ride' control, original push-button radio, period fire extinguisher and rear seats that have "hardly been sat in" it is currently undergoing a cherished numberplate transfer. c
