Lot details Registration No: YNC464A Chassis No: GAN217543 Mot Expiry: April 2004
The postwar MG Midget is related to the second version of the Austin-Healey Sprite that Donald Healey redesigned by restyling the front end of the Frogeye MkI with conventionally located headlamps and incorporating an MG-styled tail design.
Offered here is a 1963-manufactured Midget MkI, the rebuild of which was only completed in April 2003 and, says the vendor, has not been on the roads since. It took two years to collect all the correct parts for that rebuild. Indeed, only two changes to the original factory-specification were made, a mild camshaft and a set of Minilite alloys.
The bodywork has been fully restored and the red paintwork is said to be still fresh. The black interior is reportedly brand new. Both 1098cc 4-cylinder engine and 4-speed manual gearbox have been just rebuilt. We understand that the wheels and tyres are brand new. The car has been MOTd until next April and, being of 1963 vintage, is Road Fund Licence fee exempt and therefore qualifies for a free tax disc of course.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
