Although now seemingly a shelved marque belonging to Jaguar owners, American Ford, Daimler is actually Britain's oldest car company. The historic and once Royal family favourite brand name came about as a result of a meeting between Frederick Simms and Gottlieb Daimler, Simms acquiring a licence from the German to build Daimler rail and marine engines in the UK. New owners, the British Motor Syndicate, set-up workshop for their Daimler Motor Company to make automobiles at Foleshill, Coventry, in 1896.
This Conquest is believed to have had only two owners since leaving the Midland factory for the first time in 1955, the 56,000 miles displayed when entered for the sale believed to be the genuine total mileage for the car from new. We understand that the saloon has the correct pre-select gearbox and all the instrumentation would appear to be correct with the sensible addition of an oil gauge. Last restored in 1998, with black paintwork and tan leather interior, 597 YNN apparently also drives well and has current MOT test certificate on file.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
