Following its replacement of the MGA in 1962, the MGB was steadily updated during its 18 year reign. However, the biggest visual change in the car's history occurred in 1974, when steel reinforced rubber bumpers replaced the chrome ones, and the ride height was raised by one inch. By the time Roadster production ceased in October 1980, a total of 399,070 are said to have been produced.
The later edition Roadster featuring the rubber bumper is finished in Black with Tan weather equipment and Cream interior trim with Red pining, the car was produced in 1976 and first UK registered in November that year. The MGB was restored in circa 2013 and has been subject to carburettor fettling and rear brake refurbishment additionally this year. In addition, the Roadster was subject to electrical equipment fettling during 2019 which included a new starter motor, alternator, distributor cap, rotor arm and spark plugs. Offered with V5C, and a collection of past invoices, ‘VWL 659R’ is MOT tested until May 2021.
