The ES2 500cc was one of Norton’s longest running models remaining in their “lists” until the 1960’s. The over head valve single was marketed as a sporting mount for the discerning rider (who could not justify/afford an Inter) during the late forties and early fifties.
This example, featuring plunger rear suspension and Norton Roadholder telescopic forks was purchased by the vendor in a partially dismantled state having been laid up for 35 years. A full rebuild was undertaken by the vendor which saw the engine being stripped down and rebuilt. The cycle parts, including the fuel tank, were enamelled in the correct livery and all of the bright parts were re-chromed. The wheels were rebuilt with English rims, correctly lined, and new spokes. The wiring was renewed and new clutch plates were fitted.
The machine, which is described as being in good condition throughout following the rebuild, is offered with a Swansea V5C.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
