Finished in Bronze Beige metallic with Chocolate leather upholstery, ‘C678 VFH’ was supplied new by Richard Cound Ltd of Gloucester to B. Ellams Esq on January 1st 1986. Specified with a sunroof, limited slip differential, Vodafone carphone and switchable automatic transmission, the four-seater Coupe then passed to Mrs Eileen Green, AW Autos of Birmingham and Alan Woodhouse before being acquired by its current registered keeper two years ago. Pleasingly retaining its original dealer tax disc holder and number plates, the BMW also boasts its original glovebox torch, tool kit and (unopened) first aid kit. Warranted to have covered 60,000 miles from new, the 635CSi’s accompanying service book contains seventeen stamps up to 59,049 miles (sixteen of which are main dealer). Appearing to still wear much of its factory applied paintwork, the four-seater Coupe currently rides on later alloys shod with Continental tyres. However, it comes with its original Michelin TRX clad wheels should a new owner wish to reinstate them. Offered for sale with original book pack, sales brochure and fresh MOT certificate.

Model Background:

Successor to the race proven (E9) 3.0CS/CSi high performance sports coupes, the 6-series was introduced in August 1976. More forgiving than its predecessors, it utilised a modified version of the (E12) 5-series saloon platform equipped with all-round independent suspension (coil and wishbone front, trailing-arm rear) and powerful disc brakes. A natural rival to the 928 and XJS, the four-seater 6-series proved more capacious than the Porsche and sportier than the Jaguar. Immediately recognisable thanks to its distinctive 'shark nose' frontal styling and thin pillared glasshouse it boasts real road presence. An impression backed up by the various versions of BMW's mighty M30, SOHC straight-six engine fitted throughout the range. Second only to the BMW Motorsport tuned M6 version, the 635CSi's 3430cc unit developed some 216bhp and 232lbft of torque (outputs that were reputedly sufficient to propel it from 0-60mph in 8.4 seconds and on to 135mph).

PLEASE NOTE: This lot passed a MOT test with 'no advisories' on 12th August 2020
