This really most authentic looking Jordan single seater show car was constructed in 1997 so that Eddy Jordan's Silverstone-based Grand Prix team could provide an F1 look-alike for their sponsors to show off at publicity functions. With the working Jordans fully employed at the races and in testing, funding a dummy F1 was so much more cost effective than having to provide the real thing for sponsor activities. Away from the track itself, a dummy starting grid could be filled with these show cars which are flown around the world by the various teams and their backers.
We understand that this particular show car, which is presented in the team's familiar yellow livery with black cockpit, was created especially for team backers at the time, the Mastercard credit card concern. After being shown off at numerous promotional presentations in the UK, the show car was airlifted to the US for further sponsor bashes. Subsequently, it has been visually updated to 1999 season livery, as driven by team pilots at the time, Damon Hill and Heinz Harold Frentzen, with correct decals and tyres. We are told that several genuine F1 items have been used in its construction.
Since being acquired in 2000, this potent looking F1 design statement has served the vendor well as a most effective punter magnet. Indeed, no F1 memorabilia establishment or, for that matter, motoring-themed wine bar or racy nightclub should be without one.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
