This two-door coupe, a 1964-manufactured and right-hand drive Consul Capri 1500 GT on alloys, was in a receipt of extensive body restoration in 1998 when both inner and outer sills were renewed as were wings and valences. All the body panels were taken back to bare metal, the body lead-loaded and given a top quality repaint in jet black cellulose. The interior was professionally trimmed in red and black vinyl. Current condition of paintwork is described as superb with interior excellent.
Indeed, we understand that in excess of £10,000 spent on refurbishment so that the vehicle could be employed in promotional work for the American Clothing Company. The cylinder head, which has been polished and ported, whilst a larger twin choke Weber carburettor and four-branch exhaust manifold have been fitted. As a result, the four-cylinder motor, which is reportedly in excellent order, sounds great and has made the car exciting to drive.
The history file is said to be good, with both original handbook and workshop manual included, and the MOT certificate will be current until next July.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
