MV Agusta is one of the most famous names in motorcycle history having won 270 Grand Prix motorcycle races, 38 World Riders' Championships and 37 World Constructors Championships with legendary riders such as Giacomo Agostini, Mike Hailwood, Phil Read, Carlo Ubbiali, Gary Hocking and John Surtees. It all began in the early years of the 20th century when Count Giovanni Agusta left Sicily for northern Italy where he built his first aircraft, the AG1, four years after the Wright brothers had made history in the USA. Before the end of WW2 he realised there would be a need for cheap transport once hostilities were over and had developed a 98cc engine that went into production in 1946. Count Domenico Agusta had a passion for motorcycle racing and much like Enzo Ferrari, the Agusta family produced motorcycles almost exclusively to fund their racing efforts so the company launched its own factory racing program, going on to dominate Grand Prix racing in the 50s, 60s and 70s. Inline 4-cylinder engines were a characteristic feature of MV Agustas race bikes and a very exclusive range of 600cc to 860cc 4 cylinder road bikes became the most desirable and expensive bikes available at the time. Motorcycle production ceased in 1977 to concentrate on the more profitable helicopter division, only restarting in 1999 with the Massimo Tamburini designed F4 range after the Castiglioni family took over the name.
The limited edition 'Diamante' version of the F4 750 departed from MVs traditional race colours, being finished in silver with blue features, making it one of the rarer and more collectible models. This enthusiast owned example is presented in excellent condition and comes with a detailed history file of past services and any work carried out. Treat to a full service in 2018 including overhauling the front forks with new seals and oil, new front brake pads, check and adjust valve clearances, replace oils and filter, check electrics with the ECU being sent to Carmo(Netherlands) for specialist repair and replacement of EPROM and latest upgrades at a cost of £1400. In 2020 the tank was removed to coat the inside with a protectant against the effects of ethanol fuel and has remained empty since, although the bike has been turned over on the starter every month to circulate the oil it has not been started since. The bike is fitted with Arrow 90377 Agusta colour matched exhaust system, which typically gave a power increase of 6-7 bhp, a number of carbon fibre options and comes together with an MV F4 factory cover, genuine paddock stand and the original toolkit. The paperwork package includes the original service book, English and Italian Owners Manuals, copy of factory workshop manual, old MOTs, invoices for work carried out, both original keys and a current V5C.
