  • Specification includes an overhauled 4.2-litre Jaguar straight-six engine with triple Weber carburettors
  • High-quality external finish with pleasing attention to detail

Jaguar's D-Type was not only one of the best-looking cars ever to grace a race circuit but also one of the most successful, winning arguably the toughest race of them all, the Le Mans 24 Hours, three years running between 1955 and 1957. Just 71 D-Types were built in period along with 16 XKSS models - the disastrous factory fire of February 1957 helping put an end to further conversion of racing Ds into the road-going XKSS. Original examples seldom come to market these days and, when they do, their multi-million-pound values are way beyond the pockets of ordinary mortals. Nevertheless, there has for some time been a thriving market in evocations catering for a variety of budgets and we are pleased to offer one such example here.

Commissioned in 2010 by a customer of Revival Motorsport, chassis number P1F7545BW was manufactured in the inspiration of the first race-winning D-Type, chassis number XKD 404, which won the 12-hour Reims race in 1954 driven by Ken Wharton and Peter Whitehead. Utilising a Jaguar 420 donor vehicle, a multi-tubular space frame chassis is bodied with an aluminium tub is surrounded by a composite and Kevlar fire-retardant lightweight body. A 4.2-litre straight-six engine, overhauled by Rob Beere Racing (Jaguar specialists) with competition pistons, uprated cylinder head, lightened flywheel and triple Weber carburettors allied to a Tremec five-speed close-ratio gearbox. An independent E-Type rear axle and Salisbury differential provide power to the tarmac through Dunlop alloys (as per the original cars). A competition electric fuel pump and electronic ignition are also fitted, with handling taken care of by all-around adjustable shock absorbers with rose jointed and polybush suspension.

Finished in Pastel Green, along with the painted racing roundels and Green leather interior trim, the D-Type is also supplied with a Green tonneau cover and tonneau bag. The exterior detail finishing includes the correct style handles, bonnet straps, side-exit exhaust system, replica instruments, Wilton carpets and a correct style steering wheel. One of just 27 Revival Motorsport D-Types thought to have been manufactured, ‘RRY 70G’ has completed a mere c.500 miles since completion. Offered with a history file which includes documentation relating to the build, several previous MOT certificates and invoices, a current V5C and a specification sheet.
