Lot details Registration No: WUD351M Chassis No: G23DO673632 Mot Expiry: Oct 2003
When the MGB replaced the A in September 1962, the main change was the use of a lower and wider steel monocoque bodyshell rather than a separate chassis and body, and a larger 1798cc engine instead of the 1498cc power unit fitted to the previous MGA model.
After 115,898 roadsters and 21,835 fixed head MGB GT coupes had been made, a revised B MkII with new grille, Rostyle steel or wire wheels, and all-synchromesh gearbox with automatic transmission option came to market from 1967. US-compliant black bumpers instead of chrome ones changed the B's appearance from 1974 - and, after 375,147 B MkIIs had been built, the last came off the Abingdon line which closed down for ever on 23 October 1980.
The 1974-manufactured MGB GT on offer has good bodywork, paint, chrome, interior, engine and transmission, says the vendor, and some old MOTs are on file. In closed form, the MGB GT owner is an all-weather sportscar that is thoroughly practical to own and run, with full spares availability and plenty of back-up facilities on offer from marque specialists throughout the country.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
