Lot details Registration No: YNC174L Chassis No: GHN5318431G Mot Expiry: July 2009
Cornerstone of the British classic car industry, the MGB has a seemingly unshakeable grip on enthusiasts' hearts. With its handsome styling in both roadster and coupes guises, the model forces precious few compromises on the modern motorist. An engaging drive thanks to the provision of independent coil-and-wishbone front suspension, a 'live' rear axle, disc / drum brakes and rack and pinion steering, it further benefited from a torquey 1798cc four-cylinder OHV engine and synchromesh four-speed manual gearbox. Reputedly capable of over 100mph if specified with optional overdrive, the B is now forty-six years young.
Finished in Flame Red with black upholstery, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in "very good overall" condition. Believed but not warranted to have covered some 55,000 miles from new, 'YNC 174L' is said to "drive superbly". Eligible for historic class (free) road tax, the chrome-bumpered car's specification apparently includes: "overdrive, leather seats and Minilite-type alloy wheels". Boasting "a new hood and fresh carpet set", the two-seater is also understood to have just been "serviced and MOT tested". Summed-up by the seller as "a MGB Roadster to be proud of", 'YNC 174L' is offered for sale with MOT certificate valid until July 2009.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
