Introduced to replace the 'S' Type, with a new nose, in 1966, the 420 saloons came with a limited slip differential and dual circuit brakes. They have always been seen as the poor relation to the MKII saloons but they are in fact extremely good cars to own and very rewarding to drive.
This particular example was supplied new by Coombes & Sons in Guildford to a Mr C.H. Blackhurst on the 14th May 1968. It remained with him until title was transferred to another member of his family who kept it until last year when the current owner bought it. The odometer is showing only 70,000 miles, which is believed to be genuine from new, and this excellent example comes with its original toolkit, the original handbooks and it benefits from having a recent full stainless steel exhaust system fitted.
The vendor has informed us that the car drives beautifully and is believed to be one of the finest examples on offer and it is finished in gunmetal grey and has the original complementary grey leather trim.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
