Lot details Registration No: JUG552Y Chassis No: 12305322027681 Mot Expiry: Aug 2004
Restyled with horizontal clusters, the mid-range W123 bodyshell models were manufactured in their Stuttgart factory by Mercedes-Benz from 1975, replacing the Type W114/115 shelled cars and, in their turn, not being replaced by the Type W124 range until 1985 onwards.
The Yorkshire owner of the 1983-manufactured 280CE offered here describes the overall condition of 2-door fixed head bodywork, silver paintwork, dark blue velour interior, alloy wheels, 2.8-litre 6-cylinder engine and automatic transmission as being very good. The history file contains the factory book pack recording good service history and old MOTs, the latest being current until next August. The 112,000 mileage displayed when entered is believed to be the genuine total from new.
280CEs, like this, can be employed quite happily as everyday drivers. Indeed, their engines and transmissions are famously hardy, whilst, like so many Merc models over the years, their classic good looks have endured well. Indeed, these pillarless coupes still look right up to date and, of course, the high build quality of W123 cars is legendary.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
