The MGB's suspension was by wishbones and coil springs at the front, and a live axle and leaf springs at the rear - damping was by lever arm units all round. Braking was by discs at the front and drums at the rear. Power came from a 1798cc version of the BMC B-Series engine that produced 95bhp at 5,400rpm. The newcomer's monocoque construction resulted in weight savings over the outgoing MGA, reduced manufacturing costs and tauter handling. The MKII model of 1967 brought an updated manual gearbox with revised ratios and synchromesh on all gears, as well as the option of a Borg Warner automatic unit. Other changes included a revised rear axle and a switch from dynamos to alternators.
This 1967 right-hand drive Roadster sports Red bodywork coupled to a Black/Red interior and was acquired by the vendor from a deceased estate. The front brakes have recently been treated to new discs and a calliper overhaul and the rears to new wheel cylinders. The vendor describes the bodywork as "fair", the paintwork as "average", the interior as "clean" and the engine and transmission as 'OK'. He informs us that the two-seater is "driving nicely, but may require some TLC in the near future". The MG's current MOT expires on October 31st.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
