The Fabrica Italiana di Automobili first set up shop in Turin in 1899 and went on to become an Agnelli family owned commercial giant which has progressively taken over most of the Italian motor industry.
We understand that this 1976-manufactured and lefthand drive Fiat spider was shipped back to Europe from the Sunshine State of California in 1989, since when it has been in receipt of a restoration by the Staffordshire vendor. A great many parts were renewed during this rebuild, including trim and hood, the open bodyshell being Waxoiled throughout.
The current condition of the open bodywork, repainted ivory during restoration, as well as the interior in beige vinyl are described as good. The sportscar sits on alloys, while the Fiat 1.8-litre twin cam four is reportedly in good order as is the 5-speed manual gearbox.
The 81,260 miles indicated when entered for this auction is believed by the vendor to be the genuine total mileage from new for this characterful Italian and the MOT test certificate will not require renewal until next June.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
