  • 1 of just c.110 known survivors of just 7,201 produced
  • Residing in current family ownership for the vast majority of the Wolseley's life
  • Believed to be mostly complete
  • A brave restoration project or parts car

Intended to complement the six-cylinder Hornet, the four-cylinder Nine joined the Wolseley range for 1934. Based around a sturdy ladder-frame chassis equipped with all-round semi-elliptic leaf-sprung suspension and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes, the newcomer was powered by a SOHC 1018cc engine allied to a four-speed manual transmission. Surprisingly roomy despite its 7ft 9in wheelbase and 3ft 9in track, the `baby' Wolseley was reputedly capable of 59mph. The vast majority of Nines were supplied as four-door saloons, some open just 7,201 are thought to have been made (though, the spilt between open and closed cars is unknown).

The Wolseley Nine offered was originally registered ‘JA 4033’, a registration number that would have been allocated in Stockport, Cheshire between 1929 and 1938. Purchased early in its life by the late vendor's grandfather, after the passing of his grandfather the Nine was owned by his father and thereafter entered into the vendor's ownership. By this stage, the Wolseley is understood to have been in a sorry state but the late vendor decided to retain the car with a view to restoration one day. Off the road now for an estimated four decades (if not longer), the Nine is therefore not on the DVLA system. Now offered requiring either a full restoration or would be useful for providing spares for the surviving examples. Believed to be mostly complete, the Wolseley is also accompanied by a Spare Parts List but no other documents. A spare bonnet also accompanies.
