Lot details Registration No: BS 9202 Frame No: 317 Engine No: G613 cc: 250 MOT Expiry Date: May 2006
Introduced in 1928, the provision of a saddle tank and centre-sprung girder front forks gave the new sidevalve, single-cylinder 2¼hp Royal Enfield a thoroughly modern appearance. As dependable as it was agile, it proved a strong seller in the uncertain economic climate of the early 1930s. Finished in black with a traditionally liveried two-tone green tank, this particular example is rated by the vendor as being "all good" with regard to its frame, engine, gearbox, cycle parts and paintwork. Citing the accompanying original handbook, spare parts book and various illustrations as evidence that a "faithful restoration has been carried out" in the past, he further considers this handsome Vintage motorcycle to be "quite rare and hard to come by in this condition". Reported to "start easily and ride as well as it looks", the Enfield is eligible for a host of enjoyable events including the VMCC's marvellous Banbury Run. Offered for sale with aforementioned paperwork, MOT certificate valid until 25th May 2006 and historic class (free) road tax until June 2006.
