Being auctioned here is reckoned to be one of the most desirable of all Mercedes-Benz possibilities, not only an SL, but a full house 6891cc capacity 12-cylinder powered 6.9 300 Max specially produced in 1992 for a discerning and, of necessity, immensely well heeled clientele.
Currently, the left-hand drive, two-door body shell is said to be in good condition as are the black paintwork and black interior trimmed in buffalo hide. Both 6.9-litre twelve and four-speed automatic transmission, as well as the considerable electrical equipment to power up this fully loaded machine, are reportedly in good order. The exclusive Brabus brand alloys are said to be in good condition too.
The vendors advise us that this very exclusive and high specification Merc has had only two previous owners, one of whom is believed to have been a former Mercedes director. The car, which was first imported into the UK in April 2004, has never been damaged in an accident, they say, and comes complete with both hard and soft tops.
The convertible with the benefit of that factory hardtop was last MOTd in August, so the current certificate will be valid until August and the 149,792 kilometres displayed on the odometer when entered for this sale is believed by the entrants to be the genuine total mileage recorded from new. The most noteworthy feature of all, however, is the top speed potential of this luxurious, autobahn-storming monster, which is claimed to be a fairly extraordinary 200mph!
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
