Lot details Registration No: SWH601T Chassis No: ZFA1ZGCS000169441 Mot Expiry: May 2006
The Vittorio Montanari and Oscar Montabone conceived 124 saloon started its production life with a 1197cc engine, a Pininfarina-bodied 124 spider with a 1438cc version of the 125 twin cam under the bonnet appearing in Fiat showrooms from late 1966 and the same engine powering the March 1967 launched 124 coupe. Progressively larger power units were employed in 124s - 1608cc, 1778cc and eventually 1997cc. Fiat had made 322,500 open 124s by 1982 when Spider production was transferred to Pininfarina who PF badged their cars.
This 124, a left-hand drive soft-top, first left the Northern Italian factory in 1979. Having previously been used overseas, the convertible was imported into the UK during the 1990s, since when it is claimed by the vendor to have had two keepers. Originally blue, the open bodywork is now finished in red and is said by him to be in very good condition the same rating applying to the black leather interior. Engine, five-speed manual gearbox and electrical equipment are also reportedly all in very good order, too, whilst the spider has only just been MOT tested so the current certificate will be valid until May of next year.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
