The Austin Seven is one of the backbones of the Vintage movement. Through all its variations and evolutions, it is perhaps in the guise of a 'Chummy' tourer that it is most fondly remembered. Continuing spares availability and a plethora of enthusiastic clubs, mean that owning a Chummy in the 21st Century is still a practical proposition as well as being a great entry into the Vintage Sports Car Club. Taken to heart by the British public, the Seven remained in production from 1922 until 1939. As with any car whose running gear seems unbreakable, many examples were plundered by post-WW2 'special' builders or simply run into the ground.
Finished in blue over black with black leather upholstery, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in good overall condition. Reportedly known to him since he purchased it on "16th August 1991 from 'The Austineers' in Bradford-on-Avon on behalf of a customer, Mr Robert Stow", this Somerset registered car is reputed to have covered a mere 1,000 miles or so during the intervening fourteen years. Said to have been "shown at a number of classic car events", it is presently undergoing some light re-commissioning.
