Dating back to 1983, an accompanying typewritten maintenance log includes the following highlights: 75,000-mile service (1983), replacement door skins (1984), new engine at 94,863 miles (1988), replacement sills / top boxes / footwells (1989), new water pump fitted in St Tropez (1991), replacement front wings (1993), full respray (1997) and new chrome radiator grille (1998). Handwritten additions reference an unleaded cylinder head conversion and replacement front brake discs, while invoices on file from Vic’s Classic Autos encompass the fitting of a new hood and a bare metal repaint (2014). A brake overhaul was undertaken two years later with the MG only being sparingly used of late. The odometer currently shows some (1)29,900 miles with 36,000 of those having been covered on the replacement engine. Starting readily and running well during our recent photography session, the two-seater is said to ‘drive well’ and to be ‘surprisingly sound underneath’. Finished in the appealing combination of British Racing Green with Black upholstery, this affordable B Roadster has the makings of a great starter classic.
