1975 saw the launch of the legendary 400/4 went on to revolutionise medium capacity motorcycles giving riders 500cc performance in a lightweight package. The Honda RC174 was a racing motorcycle built by Honda for the 350cc class of Grand Prix motorcycle racing in the 1967 season. Bike builders have been utilising the 400/4 as the basis of Mike Hailwood Honda tribute machines, for a few decades now.
This Honda 400/4 started life as a standard machine. With the bike stripped and all necessary work carried out on the frame, the engine was disassembled and a Yoshimura 54mm big bore kit fitted, plus reprofiled cams. The exhaust and tank were professionally made. Stopping the racer are a 4ls front and 2ls rear brake. There are many bills on file for literally £1,000s on engine work etc. Many receipts are on file with other notes about the machine. Enjoyed by the late vendor on many events and tracks, the machine is offered at auction with a current V5C and dyno document on file, showing 40.02 at the engine.
