The MG Midget was launched in 1961 and proved so popular with sportscar buying consumers that it was still being sold in 1975. The endearing little 2-seater was effectively identical to the Austin-Healey Sprite. While initially the Sprite had been styled by Healey, the Mk1 was developed and built at the MG works at Abingdon. When the Frogeye was updated, the front end was again restyled by Healey with more conventional wing-mounted headlamps, the tail design was MG.
This Midget was built in 1967. We understand that the wire wheel shod sportscar was a one owner car until 2001 and has full service history. The open bodywork and British Racing Green paintwork is said to be good as are the chrome work and black interior. Both 1098cc 4-cylinder BMC A Type based engine and 4-speed manual gearbox are reportedly in good order. The 62,342 miles displayed when entered is believed to be the genuine total mileage for the car from new. Both tax disc and MOT are current until next November.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
