Humber was another of the Rootes companies, acquired in 1928, but it was always at the upper end of the market. Like many other Midlands car firms, Thomas Humber's concern initially made bicycles and until 1908 there were two factories, one in Beeston Nottinghamshire with the other in Coventry.
The classic Super Snipe came along in the late 1940's and Tickford were commissioned to produce a handful of drophead coupes which were highly sought after. This 1950 example, they were only made for two years, has been in the present owners collection since the late 1980's at which time it was in lovely restored condition. It has been used very little in the intervening years and there is now some slight deterioration at the bottom of the doors and it would benefit from a new headlining and new carpets.
It is generally though in lovely condition throughout and although it is in need of a slight amount of recomissioning this is an extremely rare and highly desirable three-position drophead with the manual four-speed gearbox.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
