Mercedes-Benz full four-seater, fixed head coupes, as opposed to their SL roadsters, were restyled in 1980, borrowing body lines derived from the Type W126 saloons, though with a more sporting horizontal radiator grille. SECs were only available with V8 motors, too, initially with either 3.8 or 5.0-litre engine options.
Offered here is a 1983-manufactured 500SEC, the right-hand drive two-door coupe finished in black with blue leather interior and sitting on alloys. The Stuttgart-built classic is powered by a 4973cc capacity eight and has automatic transmission.
Everything works, we are told, apart from the electric sunroof, air conditiong and near side window, and although the seats are in good condition, the wood veneers are reportedly poor in places. The 165,000 miles displayed on the odometer when entered for this sale is believed by the entrant to be the genuine total mileage for the very high performance motor car from new. The current MOT test certificate is valid until next January.
