Lot details Registration No: TOO655N Chassis No: GAECPM01183 Mot Expiry: Aug 2008
Commissioned and designed by Ford as a European equivalent to the iconic Mustang, the Capri was launched in 1969. An attractive four-seater with good handling and respectable performance, its reputation was enhanced by the repeated successes of competition variants in the contemporary European Touring Car Championship. Although, stylistically evolved over three 'Marks', the handsome two-door coupe remained predominantly faithful to the same basic mechanical recipe throughout its eighteen-year production life. Built around a monocoque bodyshell featuring MacPherson strut front suspension, a leaf-sprung 'live' rear axle, disc / drum brakes and rack and pinion steering, it was powered by everything from an anaemic 1.3 litre four-pot to a homologation special 3.1 litre V6 engine.
According to information kindly supplied by the vendor: "This particular example was a Ford Motor Company car purchased from a local Derby dealer in the mid 1970s by my brother, Mr R.A. Collins. I bought the Capri from him in 1992. It has been resprayed but I have done very little mileage since owning the car. I have tried to maintain it to a good standard". A desirable 3.0 litre, four-speed manual, Ghia specification model, 'TOO 655N' is believed but not warranted to have covered some 125,000 miles from new. Riding on alloy wheels, this 'Fast Ford' is offered for sale with current MOT certificate and road tax.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
