The Audi B3 Coupe was a compact executive car produced by Audi between 1988 and 1996. It was based on the B3 platform, which was the third generation of the Audi 80 model line. The B3 Coupe featured a transverse front-engine layout with a four-link front suspension and a torsion beam rear suspension. It was offered with a variety of petrol and diesel engine options, including a 2.0-litre inline-four, a 2.3-litre inline-five, and a 2.8-liter V6. These engines were coupled with either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission, depending on the model and market. The B3 Coupe was also equipped with a range of advanced features for its time, such as anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, and a driver airbag, making it a popular choice among buyers looking for a high-performance and well-equipped coupe.

First registered in May 1990, this particular Coupe, in ‘E’ trim level, is presented in the attractive combination of Tornado Red with contrasting Grey cloth interior, featuring Leather dashboard and accents. ‘G777 ALT’ was purchased by the vendor in November of last year and has been enjoyed for the last four months, but is now offered for sale to raise funds for a larger purchase. What makes this particular example so unusual is that it was in the hands of its former keeper from new. A credit to its one and only previous owner, the car has been used regularly, but extremely well maintained. Boasting the 2.3-litre inline five-cylinder ‘NG’ engine, with the earlier 10-valve head, this spritely 134bhp powerplant is mated to the ever-desirable manual gearbox and boasts very little in the way of modifications other than a Sony Stereo upgrade and a recently added full stainless steel exhaust system with new catalytic converter.

‘G777 ALT’ benefited from an oil and filter service in January 2022 and a replacement stainless-steel exhaust as mentioned above in April 2021. As well as this, the car was subject to replacement discs and pads, an extensive service including filters, spark plugs, the engine and gearbox oil replaced, coolant replaced and importantly a replacement timing belt and water pump that same month. Included with the vehicle is a comprehensive history file comprising its original leather book pack containing a number of manuals, a ring binder containing a large collection of invoices for work done, a large collection of previous MOTs, two Haynes manuals, two keys and the V5C document which displays 1 former keeper. Overall, this presents a great opportunity for an enthusiast or collector to acquire what is now becoming a very rare car, especially in the condition offered today.
