Lot details Registration No: LFF106R Chassis No: GHN5414648G Mot Expiry: May 2009
Some twenty-eight years after it ceased production, the MGB remains as popular as ever. One of Britain's best loved sportscars, the model's handsome styling, spirited performance and balanced handling have won it a veritable army of fans. Based around a two-door monocoque bodyshell equipped with independent coil and wishbone front suspension, a 'live' rear axle, disc / drum brakes and rack and pinion steering, it relied (in both 'Roadster' and 'GT' guises) on a 1798cc four-cylinder engine allied to four-speed manual transmission. Tough, dependable and easy to maintain, the MGB remains in many ways the ideal classic.
Finished in white with black cloth upholstery, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in "good overall" condition. Entering the current ownership during 1988, 'LFF 106R' is understood to retain its "original sills, floors, A-post and interior". Though, the two-seater has apparently benefited from "an engine overhaul (including conversion to unleaded)" and the "refurbishment of its four-speed manual plus overdrive gearbox". Riding on Minilite-type alloy wheels, this "smart and presentable" MG is offered for sale with MOT certificate valid until May 2009.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
