Arguably the greatest of the street legal Italians, the Ducati 900SS combined potent v-twin motor with taut chassis frame, high quality cycle components, such as Marzocchi suspension and Brembo brakes, and a race-tuned riding position- no items that were not strictly necessary were included.
The marque's successes on track during the 1970s owed much to two race wins in particular; Paul Smart's unexpected and landmark win in the 1972 Imola 200, and six year later, when Mike Hailwood returned from retirement to win the 1978 Isle of Man Formula One TT. 'Mike The Bike' rode the red and green Duke round the Mountain circuit at a 108.51mph average speed; a victory which resulted in a limited edition Hailwood Replica of the 900SS being offered by the factory in 1979. Like the standard 900, the Rep was produced until 1984.
Offered here is one such Hailwood Replica, the overall condition of which is believed to be good. 14,484 miles are displayed on the odometer. Both MOT and tax disc are current until next August.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
