Handmade by Robert Wankel's Panther Westwinds Limited of Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, this Lima sports was manufactured in 1978 before the renamed Panther Car Company relocated to Weybridge in 1980. Following in the much more pricey wheeltracks of Jankel's J72 SS100 look-alike and the glitzy Bug Royale clone De Ville, both in hand-crafted aluminum, came the much more pop market Lima in 1976. This provided Panther punters with a 1930s styled 2-seater sports body in GRP on a beefed up Vauxhall Magnum floorpan. Thanks to selected Vauxhall dealers being able to sell this Panther, a total of over 900 Limas were produced. The Lima was subsequently re-engineered to employ Ford componentry, bodied in ally and renamed the Kallista, of which a further 1733 were built before production finally ceased for good in 1990.
The vendor advises us that when entered for this sale, this characterful sportscar, which combines traditional styling with practical modern mechanical components, had only covered a thought to be genuine total mileage of just over 36,000 miles from new. He tells us that it is in very good order throughout and drives very well indeed. Full and effective weather equipment are included with the car which has been registered with the Panther Club for several years. Wind in your hair motoring with good weather protection and trusty GM mechanical and electrical parts, a Lima is well worth considering.
