Although now seemingly a shelved marque belonging to Jaguar owners, American Ford, Daimler is Britain's oldest car company. The historic and once Royal family favourite brand name came about as a result of a meeting between Frederick Simms and Gottlieb Daimler, Simms acquiring a licence from the German to build Daimler rail and marine engines in the UK. New Owners, the British Motor Syndicate, set-up their workshop for their Daimler Motor Company to make automobiles at Foleshill, Coventry, in 1896.
Offered here is a Daimler 20/70 which is thought to be c1930 manufacture. Requiring total refurbishment, the as yet unrestored saloon coachwork is unpainted and the interior, again unrestored, would appear to be original. The said to be 2648cc 6-cylinder engine is dismantled, though the block is still in the project as are lots of loose parts which are also included. The gearbox is a 4-speed manual. As this stately 1930s motor car is being offered entirely without reserve, the best bid made here today will secure what should make a really interesting challenge.
PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle is a non runner.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
