(including buyers premium)

Lot details
Registration No: GSK 314
Chassis No: G-HNL2/100478
Mot Expiry: June 2013

PLEASE NOTE: We apologise but this vehicle is withdrawn from the 23rd October 2012 auction.

Visually distinguished by an inset grille and horizontal taillights, the last-of-the-line MGA 1600 MKII (April 1961-June 1962) also featured an enlarged 1622cc/93bhp engine. According to its accompanying BMIHT Certificate, this particular example was built to North American Export specification from 6th-11th April 1961. Resident in California during the late 1980s, it was repatriated thereafter and treated to an extensive restoration by The Carrington Collection Ltd of Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire. As well as a conversion to right-hand drive and bare-metal refurbishment of its chassis / bodywork, the MG is understood to have benefited from an engine, gearbox, back axle and brake system overhaul not to mention an interior retrim using Connolly hide and Wilton carpet etc. UK road registered as 'GSK 314' on 7th June 1991 - by which time its original livery of Chariot Red with Black leather upholstery had been reinstated - the two-seater was sold some five months later to David Ward Esq. of Fen Drayton, Cambridgeshire.

Sparingly used by the latter over the next twelve years, the Roadster entered the current ownership in September 2003. Entrusted to the MG Owners' Club (Workshop) Ltd of Swavesey, Cambridgeshire for maintenance and MOT work ever since, it has covered less than 300 miles on the remanufactured engine that was fitted at a cost of some £2,375.38 during December 2003. Treated to a new battery in August 2011 and flexible fuel carburettor lines when submitted for its latest MOT test this June, 'GSK 314' started readily and ran nicely during a brief test drive. Showing less than 2,500 post-restoration miles to its odometer and boasting a hood, tonneau cover and sidescreens, this appealing 1600 MKII is offered for sale with driver's handbook, workshop manual, service parts list, copy restoration photos, sundry old tax discs / MOTs, numerous MGOC Workshop invoices, expired Ivor Searle Ltd Engine Warranty, MOT certificate valid until June 2013 and historic class (free) road fund licence valid until August 2013.
