Lot details Registration No: VSJ 113 Chassis No: TS54937L Mot Expiry: Nov 2004
The TR3A replaced the TR3 and was produced in Coventry from 1957 to 1961, by when 58,236 had been made, most earning vital export currency. The uprated TR3 can be identified by having a full-width radiator grille with more recessed headlights and exterior door handles. The more powerful 100bhp engine, as fitted to the very late TR3s, was employed.
The Hertfordshire vendor of this 1960 TR3A tells us that he acquired his Coventry-made sportscar in 1997 from a colleague in the US who had owned it for some four years before that. The left-hand drive car had been the subject of an earlier restoration Stateside and was registered in the UK in 1999. Since then, suspension and steering have been refurbished and back axle rebuilt by Protek Engineering of Wallingford.
The current condition of chassis, open bodywork, red paintwork, black interior, 2-litre engine, 4-speed manual gearbox with overdrive and electrical equipment is described as good. The car is taxed until next October and the MOT is current until November.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
