AC stands for Auto-Carrier and their first car was a 3 wheeler called the Sociable. Prior to World War II the firm's reputation was founded on a range of high quality sporting cars built in the 1930's including the Ace but they were of course responsible for the AC Cobra, which has been one of the all-time great cars of the twentieth century.
Frua, the Italian design company, came up with the stunning looks of the 427/428 but only 29 fastbacks and 51 convertibles with the 7-litre engine were produced. This particular example has been completely rebuilt by marque specialist, Uniclip of Byfleet in Surrey, within the last 4000 miles, and there are bills for over £50,000 available for inspection. It has the automatic transmission and the car featured in Quentin Wilson's 'The Ultimate Classic Car Book', when it was registered LCD1.
A Kenlowe fan has been fitted which has improved the engine cooling as much the anti-roll bars have improved the handling. It successfully completed the Euro Classic, a round trip of approximately 2000 miles without a hitch, and we are proud to say that this example would grace any collection of super cars. It is in absolutely stunning condition throughout and ready to win any number of concours events.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
