Lot details Registration No: EOC 888 Chassis No: GFN40 Mot Expiry: None
Intended for "use in Great Britain and occasionally on the Continent", chassis GFN40 is reputedly one of just two 20hp cars to wear this particular style of Weymann Saloon coachwork by Hooper & Co. First owned by (Sir) Bruce Thomas, the four-seater subsequently passed through the hands of Shane Chichester, Oscar Chichester and Douglas Gordon before entering the current ownership during the late 1970s. Rolls-Royce's Inspector Engineer from 1919-1942, Chichester Senior documented the 16,000 miles he covered aboard `EOC 888' via handwritten logs. Last on the road in 1995 (or so the tax disc affixed to its windscreen would imply), the 20hp has been kept garaged for nigh-on two decades. Now in need of recommissioning, this stylish Weymann Saloon is accompanied by its original instruction book, buff logbook, copy chassis card, Sotheby's catalogue description (from May 1971), handwritten maintenance notes spanning 1929-1963, continuation logbooks and sundry old MOTs / tax discs.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
