Like the E-Type before it, the XK8 made its debut at the Geneva Salon - that of 1996 - and from launch was available in either Coupe or Convertible guise. At the time of the newcomer's unveiling, Jaguar Cars was owned by Ford, as was Aston Martin, and it made sound economic sense for the XK8 and similarly targeted DB7 to share the same platform; which itself was derived from that of the outgoing XJS. The biggest of many differences between new and old, was the adoption of Jaguar's second generation independent rear suspension system, previously found on the XJ40 Saloon. Prior to 2003, power for the XK8 was provided by a normally aspirated version of Jaguar's DOHC V8 AJ26 engine.
Finished in Cherry Red Metallic with Cream leather upholstery, this particular example entered the current ownership via Jaguar dealer Royles of Wilmslow. Reportedly treated to an extensive £3,000 engine overhaul (including new timing chain) at 88,000 miles, it has recently benefited from servicing of both the engine and electric hood. Described by the vendor as being in "good" condition with regard to its V8 engine, automatic transmission, electrical equipment, bodywork, paintwork and interior trim, the XK8 is being offered for sale with "full service history" and MOT valid into February 2013.
PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle has an MOT until September 2013.
