The Sherpa, thanks to Sammy Millers input, revolutionised trials, providing riders with a lightweight machine with good power characteristics and excellent handling. The earliest machines featured a radial finned head and four speed gearbox, which was replaced during 1967 with the five speed "San Antonio" engine and a new frame was introduced with the third major revision in 1968 followed by the introduction of the "Kit Campeon" - a combined seat and tank unit that facilitated easier movement on the bike at the end of the sixties, initially as a retrospective upgrade but eventually as standard fitment on the Model 80. A 350cc variant was added to the list with the introduction of the Model T-73 in 1973. Development was rapid with a bewildering array of revisions being incorporated into the production machines culminating in the introduction of the most highly developed "Kit Campeon" equipped Sherpas, the Model 150/151 at the end of 1974. By now the frame was being manufactured in chrome molybdenium and the characteristic "boomerang" exhaust system was a standard feature.
The 350cc Model 151 offered was purchased from a Ducati specialist needing recomissioning. The vendor informs us that the engine has been overhauled with a new piston fitted and the rolling chassis has benefited from a set of new YSS competition shock absorbers. A Preston Petty rear mudguard has been installed as has a competition chain and a new ignition system. It is described as being in very good condition in respect of the cycle parts and paintwork.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
