Lot details Registration No: DS 8530 Chassis No: A3574131 Mot Expiry: May 2003
The Ford Model A was launched in December 1927 and the curiosity about the new car, prior to launch, was greater than for any other previous model. Its styling bore resemblance to the Lincoln, although its wheelbase was too short for real elegance and the coachwork options available were similar to those on the Model 'T' and the range was extended from nine models to eighteen.
This particular example, which dates from 1930, has been in the present private collection since 1989 when it was imported from California, USA. It is the two door coupe version with a dicky or 'rumble' seat, and has had a complete ground up restoration in his ownership. It can now only be described as being in superb order throughout and although we have not heard it running we are informed that it drives perfectly.
It still retains the period optional extras including the engraved side window deflectors, the cloth spare wheel cover and the chrome grille guard and the history file contains the original American Title of Ownership and various other pertinent documentation.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
