The OMS 500 racer here was built by Steve Owen Motorsport for the 1990 season. The single seater was fitted with a Grand Prix Suzuki 500cc twin cylinder 2-stroke screamer specifically to compete in the 500cc Speed Championship, which involves participants tackling all the main hillclimb and sprint courses - the car transporting the owner to the take the title in 1992. Many of these mini-racing cars are now being fitted with multi-cylinder bike engines like the famous Honda Fireblade or Hayabusa, so they are fairly simple for the very brave to upgrade and work on with fairly unsophisticated workshop equipment.
The overall cosmetic and mechanical condition of this racing car is said by the vendor to be good. Whilst an incredible power to weight ratio results in truly awesome acceleration, which, coupled with super-nimble handling round corners will whisk adventurous new owner up the hills and round the sprint courses in super-quick and award winning time. This lot offers clients a mini-F1 car experience, in fact. It would take up hardly any room to store in your motor house, in fact a modest garden shed may suffice. Easy to transport between venues, being light enough to tow behind quite a low powered road car - and so rapid and, potentially, so cheap too. This could be your chance to sample single seater motoring. Don't miss it!
