For most of its existence, the Birmingham Small Arms Company was the UK's largest motorcycle manufacturer. Indeed, in the immediate postwar years, when the once mighty and now sadly long gone Small Heath works turned out over 75,000 machines in a good year, BSA was actually the world's number one bike maker.
As well as making the legendary Gold Star 4-stroke single, which was successful both as a cafe racer for the road as well as being a thoroughly practical proposition for the private owner to ride in the Clubmans TT round the IOM mountain circuit, their Bantam 2-strokes proved to be an economical winner with commuters.
According to the entrant, the A10 Flash offered here was built at the firm's Birmingham works in 1960. He tells us that the classic Briton has been fully restored recently at enormous expense and repainted in black and red. The 650cc engine has been stripped and rebuilt, while tyres and seat have also been renewed. The current cosmetic condition is described as being show winning.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
