Lot details Registration No: MWD 757 Chassis No: LAG/50/488 Mot Expiry: Exempt
Originally delivered to Éclair Doors Ltd of Birmingham in December 1952, MWD 757 was acquired by Ken Welton in the mid 1980s in a dismantled state and subsequently restored. The story was documented in Classic Cars magazine in 1991 (copy on file). In 2002 it passed to Alan Heard who set about further improvements which included body repairs and a repaint in 2004, restoration of interior woodwork, rechroming, an engine overhaul in 2008 by Thurston Engineering Ltd and gearbox overhaul by Simon Constable in 2009. It is believed that parts from the 1948 Earls Court Motor Show car 'TME 475' were used at some point, the timing case being stamped LB6A/48/9. In 2010 the car passed to its late owner who carried out further works including replacement of the wiring loom in 2012.
Finished in silver grey metallic with blue leather, this elegant Lagonda benefiting from much restoration work is back on the road and offered with Swansea V5, assorted MoTs, two thick history files of invoices, articles and photographs, copy chassis cards and an entry from the Lagonda 2.6 Register detailing its known history.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
